Product Description
The PEM® AC-0420-2 is a high-performance Floating Self-Clinching Nut designed to provide strong, permanent threads in thin metal sheets while compensating for mating hole misalignment. Part of the AC™ Series, this fastener features an internal nut element that "floats" within a stationary outer retainer.
This design allows for a total adjustment of 0.76 mm (.030 in), effectively resolving assembly issues caused by tolerance build-up or minor inaccuracies in hole positioning. The AC-0420-2 is engineered with a Shank Code 2, making it compatible with slightly thicker host panels than the Shank Code 1 version. It provides a captive threading solution that remains secure under high torque and vibration, eliminating the risk of loose hardware.
Misalignment Compensation: The nut element provides 0.38 mm (.015 in) radial float from center, streamlining the assembly of large panels with multiple attachment points.
Non-Locking Design: Features a free-running thread for applications where a self-locking mechanism is not required.
High Torque Resistance: The self-clinching retainer offers excellent resistance to rotation and push-out once pressed into the host panel.
Permanent Attachment: Becomes an integral part of the assembly, preventing hardware from falling into sensitive electronics during field service.
Common Uses: Extensively used in telecommunications racks, server enclosures, industrial machinery, and automotive electronic modules.
NASM - Products meet Military Specifications (MS) and National Aerospace Standards (NAS) requirements as applicable and are shipped with appropriate documentation.
