Product Description
PennEngineering’s proprietary self-clinching technology is a specialized, weld-free joining method engineered to introduce permanent, load-bearing threads into thin ductile sheet metals. The process operates by applying a controlled parallel acting squeezing force that presses a designated fastener into a pre-drilled or punched mounting hole. This compression forces the host panel material to cold flow dynamically into a precisely designed annular recess located along the shank or pilot of the hardware. Simultaneously, an integrated serrated clinching ring or knurled platform embeds entirely into the sheet structure, establishing a permanent, high-strength bond that stops rotational spin-outs and hardware displacement during final assembly.
High Pushout and Torque-Out Resistance: The cold-flow material displacement process provides exceptional structural retention capable of withstanding heavy axial and rotational torque loads.
Flush Reverse-Side Finish: Eliminates unsightly panel deformations, bulges, or swaged rim protrusions, maintaining a smooth and completely flush profile on the back side of the sheet.
Pre-Finished Panel Preservation: Enables successful installation into pre-coated, anodized, or painted surfaces without causing structural burning, discoloration, or coating degradation.
Streamlined Assembly Efficiency: Simplifies production parameters by removing the need for secondary tapping operations, specialized welding equipment, or secondary thread deburring.
