Product Description
The PEM® LAS-M5-2MD is a self-locking, floating self-clinching nut designed to provide high-strength load-bearing threads in thin steel or aluminum sheets. This metric fastener features a Dry Film Lubricant (MD) and a prevailing torque-locking feature that ensures secure attachment and prevents loosening in high-vibration environments. It permits 0.76 mm total adjustment to compensate for mating hole misalignment. With a unique PEM design where the threads extend fully into the retainer shank, it offers enhanced strength and thread engagement. It is installed by squeezing the fastener into a prepared hole using a standard press, causing the host material to cold-flow into an undercut for permanent locking and a flush profile on the reverse side of the sheet.
Misalignment Compensation: Provides 0.38 mm minimum float in all directions from center (0.76 mm total) to account for mating hole inaccuracies.
Self-Locking Thread: Prevailing torque-locking mechanism provides reliable fastening and prevents hardware loosening due to vibration.
Dry Film Lubricant: Finished with MoS2 (molybdenum disulfide) dry film lubricant to ensure consistent torque-tension and easy assembly.
Carbon Steel Construction: Manufactured from heat-treated carbon steel for high strength and durability in suitable host materials.
Flush Installation: Once installed, the mounting sheet remains entirely flush on the reverse side, ensuring a clean assembly profile.
NASM - Products meet Military Specifications (MS) and National Aerospace Standards (NAS) requirements as applicable and are shipped with appropriate documentation.
