he PEM® CLS-440-1 is a self-clinching nut engineered to provide durable, load-bearing internal threads in thin sheet materials where standard threading methods aren’t feasible. Designed as part of PEM’s CLS/CLSS/S/SS family, this fastener installs permanently into a pre-punched or drilled hole using a parallel squeezing force. During installation, the surrounding sheet material cold flows into the nut’s undercut profile, creating a secure, vibration-resistant, integral threaded attachment point. A serrated clinching ring enhances resistance to rotation once installed. CLS-440-1 is ideal for applications requiring consistent thread strength and high resistance to push-out and torque-out forces in steel or aluminum sheet assemblies.
