Product Description
The S-M3-1ZI is a self-clinching nut from PennEngineering® (PEM®) designed to provide strong, permanent internal threads in thin sheet metal where traditional tapped threads are impractical. Utilizing PEM’s proven clinching technology, this nut installs into a properly sized round hole and becomes permanently anchored when pressed into the sheet.
During installation, the nut’s serrated clinching ring displaces surrounding material into an undercut, creating high resistance to torque-out and push-out forces. This ensures a flush, vibration-resistant fastening solution without welding, adhesives, or secondary hardware.
Manufactured from carbon steel with a zinc plating (ZI), the S-M3-1ZI offers good corrosion resistance for general industrial environments while maintaining excellent mechanical strength. It is suitable for use in steel and aluminum sheets and is widely used in electronics, enclosures, appliances, and industrial equipment.
