Product Description
The PEM® AC-440-2 is a non-locking, floating self-clinching nut that provides load-bearing threads in thin sheets while permitting up to .030" (0.76 mm) total adjustment for mating hole misalignment. Part of the AC™ product family, it features a unique PEM design where the threads of the floating nut extend fully into the retainer shank, providing extra strength and support in the assembly. These fasteners are installed by being squeezed into prepared holes using any standard press, causing the sheet material to cold-flow into an undercut and permanently locking the fastener in place. Once installed, the fastener remains secure and the host sheet remains flush on one side.
Misalignment Compensation: Permits a total of .030" (0.76 mm) adjustment (.015" minimum in all directions from center) to account for mating hole inaccuracies.
Unique PEM Strength Feature: Threads of the floating nut extend fully into the retainer shank for added strength and support in the assembly.
Simple Installation: Fast and simple assembly by squeezing the fastener into a prepared hole using any standard press.
Flush Finish: Designed to leave the host sheet entirely flush on the side opposite the fastener.
Permanent Locking: The self-clinching action creates high pushout and torque-out resistance, making the fastener an integral part of the sheet.
NASM - Products meet Military Specifications (MS) and National Aerospace Standards (NAS) requirements as applicable and are shipped with appropriate documentation.
