Product Description
The AS-440-2ZI features a unique two-piece construction: a threaded nut element held captive within a stationary outer retainer. This design allows the internal nut to "float" a total of 0.030 in (0.76 mm) (moving 0.015 in in any direction from the center). This float is essential for simplifying the assembly of components where precise hole alignment between mating parts is difficult to achieve or maintain.
Misalignment Compensation: The 0.030" total float reduces assembly time and rejects by allowing the fastener to shift and meet the mating screw.
Captive Design: The floating nut is held securely within the retainer, preventing loose hardware from entering sensitive equipment.
