AC-440-1 - Floating Self-Clinching Nut by PennEngineering ® (PEM ® )

The PEM® AC-440-1 is a non-locking floating self-clinching nut designed to provide load-bearing threads in thin sheets while permitting up to .030” (0.76 mm) total adjustment for mating hole misalignment. Part of the AC™ product family, it features a unique PEM design where the threads of the floating nut extend fully into the retainer shank, providing extra strength and support in the assembly. These fasteners are installed by being squeezed into prepared holes using any standard press; during installation, the sheet material cold-flows into an undercut to permanently lock the fastener in place. Once installed, the fastener remains secure and the host sheet remains flush on one side.

Misalignment Compensation: Provides .015” minimum float in all directions from center (.030” total) to accommodate mating hole inaccuracies.

High Strength Construction: Unique design features threads that extend fully into the retainer shank for enhanced support.

Simplified Assembly: Squeezes into prepared holes using a standard press, reducing the need for complex mounting hardware.

Permanent Attachment: Self-clinching action ensures the fastener is permanently locked into the sheet with high pushout and torque-out resistance.
